Dr. Chandrashekhar Vishwanath Algundgi, popularly known as Dr. Shekhar Algundgi (born April 12, 1968), is a renowned Indian homeopath, educator, author, and philanthropist celebrated for his groundbreaking work in modern homeopathic practices and education. With over three decades of experience, he has transformed the field by blending traditional homeopathic principles with contemporary healthcare approaches. As the founder of the Swara Homeo Clinic & Gurukul and co-director of the Swara Homeo Charitable Clinic, Dr. Algundgi has been instrumental in advancing healthcare accessibility, promoting homeopathy's global recognition, and mentoring future practitioners through innovative educational initiatives.
Personal Life and Education
Dr. Chandrashekhar Vishwanath Algundgi was born on April 12, 1968, in Dharwad, Karnataka, India, into a family deeply rooted in education and service. As the eldest child of Dr. Vishwanath Algundgi and Shailaja Algundgi, he shared a nurturing and academically inclined upbringing with his siblings, Aparna V. Hudge and Amarnath V. Algundgi.
He completed his schooling at Holy Family High School in Andheri, Mumbai, and his pre-university education at Kittle College, Dharwad. Motivated by a profound passion for healthcare, Dr. Algundgi earned his Bachelor of Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery (B.H.M.S.) degree from Venutai Yashwantrao Homeopathic Medical College, Kolhapur, in 1993. To deepen his expertise, he pursued an M.D. in Homeopathy from Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University, graduating from Panchsheel Homeopathic Medical College, Khagaon, in 2007.
Dr. Algundgi’s quest for excellence led him to international recognition, earning a Fellowship in Advanced Case Management (F.Hom.) from Pioneer University, London, under the mentorship of Professor Luc D’Scheppher. Additionally, he acquired a Master of Homeopathic Medicine from the Irish Education Board through Vis Vitalis Homeopathic Education, an M.F. Hom. from Malaysia, and a diploma in Naturopathy (N.D.), alongside membership in the Society of Homeopaths (RS Hom) in the UK.
Currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Homeopathy at Vidhyadeep University, Surat, Dr. Algundgi is married to Shivani C. Algundgi. Their daughter, Anisha C. Algundgi, continues the family legacy in homeopathy, pursuing her graduation in Homeopathic Medicine while also holding a Master's degree in Bharat Natyam.
Career
Dr. Algundgi has dedicated over 33 years to homeopathy, emphasizing holistic healing and addressing the mind-body-soul connection. As the founder of Swara Homeo Clinic & Gurukul, he has created a platform for teaching and practicing homeopathy while promoting eco-friendly and patient-centered approaches to healthcare.
He is affiliated with several prominent institutions, serving as a visiting faculty member at the International Academy of Advanced Homeopathy – The Other Song. He held honorary roles at R.K. Mission Hospital, Vashani Diagnostic Center, and Holy Family Charitable Clinic. His previous associations include work with the International Airports Authority of India and the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC).

Swara Homeo Gurukul
Swara Homeo Gurukul, the dream and vision of one man, Dr. Shekhar Algundgi, had humble beginnings. A handful of eager learners and an enthusiastic teacher, imparting in a village under a tree. The concept remains, but the number of participants has grown into a huge family with members from all over the country.
Set amidst picturesque surroundings in Hativ village in Sangameshwar Taluka of Ratnagiri district in Konkan, the Gurukul hosts four workshops in a year in March, May, September, and December since 2013. The science and art of homeopathy at its best, is taught here; in an eco-friendly & traditional environment.
The Gurukul’s workings are steeped in traditions; preserving the values of being eco-friendly and inclusive. Nature walks, yoga, meditations, and simple but wholesome food served in traditional patravallis. The day begins at dawn, filled with enriching learning and other stimulating activities; and ends in the evening with relaxing interactions, drawing the participants together into a close-knit unit.
