Dr. Firoz Uddin Mohammad Shafi (born 5 January 1976) is an Indian academic administrator, educator, and social activist from West Bengal. He is best known for his leadership in Madrasah education and for serving as the President of the West Bengal Madrasah Staff Association. He currently works as the Headmaster of Chandpur N.S. Madrasah (High Madrasah Type) in the North 24 Parganas district.
With advanced academic qualifications spanning History, Education, Social Work, Human Resource Management, and doctoral research, Dr. Shafi has played a significant role in educational administration, staff welfare, and minority community development in eastern India.
Early life and education
Firoz Uddin Mohammad Shafi was born on 5 January 1976 in Chandpur, a rural locality in the Deganga block of North 24 Parganas, West Bengal. He is the son of Late Alhaj Md. Shafiqur Rahman, a social activist and educationist, and Late Begum Noorjahan.
Dr. Shafi serves as the Headmaster of Chandpur N.S. Madrasah, a government-recognized High Madrasah under the West Bengal Board of Madrasah Education. In this role, he oversees academic planning, institutional governance, staff administration, and student welfare, contributing to the strengthening of secondary and higher secondary education in the region.
His work emphasizes inclusive education, modernization of Madrasah curricula, and alignment with mainstream educational standards in India.
Organizational leadership and activism
Beyond school administration, Dr. Shafi is actively involved in staff welfare organizations and minority advocacy bodies. He is the serving President of the West Bengal Madrasah Staff Association, representing teachers and non-teaching staff working across Madrasahs in West Bengal.
He also serves as the Chairman of the West Bengal Progressive Minority Council, an organization focused on social justice, educational access, and socio-economic upliftment of minority communities.
