Omkar Prasad Baidya
Omkar Prasad Baidya (born December 3, 1984) is an Indian physician, philosopher, educator, researcher, and author recognized for his contributions to medicine, moral philosophy, and literature. He serves as an associate professor of physiology at Jagannath Gupta Institute of Medical Sciences and Hospital in Kolkata. Previously, he held the same position at ESIC-PGIMSR and ESI Medical College, Joka, Kolkata. Baidya has authored multiple books that delve into themes of morality, human virtues, world peace, and the significance of ethics in society.
Early life and education
Baidya was born and brought up in Agartala, Tripura, where he completed his schooling at Shishu Bihar Higher Secondary School. He pursued his medical education at the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences in Imphal, Manipur, earning his MBBS degree in 2009. He later obtained an MD from the same institution in 2012..
In 2013, Baidya enrolled in the ICMR-sponsored Post MD-PhD program under the guidance of Prof. Sunita Tiwari. He earned his PhD from King George’s Medical University, Lucknow, in 2019. Over his career, Baidya has pursued advanced certifications from global institutions, including Harvard Medical School, Johns Hopkins Medical School, the American College of Cardiology, Yale University, and the University of Toronto, among others.
