Rakesh Kumar Prasad (born 21 October 1973) is an Indian executive chef and hospitality professional recognized for his contributions to culinary arts and large-scale food service operations. With over two decades of experience, he has worked across leading establishments in India and the United States, specializing in fine dining and high-volume catering.
Early life and education
Prasad was raised in Rourkela, Odisha, where he completed his early education. He attended Deepika EM School and later pursued science at Ispat College, Rourkela.
He subsequently enrolled at the International Institute of Hotel Management, Kolkata, where he obtained a diploma in Hotel Management and Applied Nutrition.
He also completed industrial training at The Leela Beach, Goa, gaining practical exposure to professional kitchens and hospitality operations.
Career
Initial years
Prasad began his career in 1995, working in junior culinary roles. His early assignment was as a Commis III at The Park, New Delhi, where he worked on continental cuisine.
He later gained experience at Taj Palace, New Delhi and worked with establishments such as Olive Bar & Kitchen and Lodi – The Garden Restaurant, refining his skills in kitchen operations and food presentation.
Career advancement
He progressed to positions including Senior Chef de Partie at Club Sapphire, Gurgaon, and Senior Sous Chef at Kwality Group (KIC Food Pvt Ltd), Delhi.
