He is known for his contributions to regional journalism and digital news innovation. He is the founder of Kannada News Today, a Kannada-language digital media platform, and Timesnib, an English-language news outlet. With over a decade of experience in journalism, he has played a key role in promoting media education and technological integration in news delivery.

Early life and education

Satish Raj Goravigere was born in Goravigere, a village located in the eastern part of Bengaluru, Karnataka. His birth name is Sathish Kumar G.R. He holds a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in Mass Communication.

He comes from a humble background. His father, Rajanna, is a retired railway employee and a yoga teacher who has been teaching yoga free of cost to many in the community. His mother, Bhagyalakshmi, is a homemaker. He has one brother, Shubhakar, a businessman, and a sister, Veena. Satish is married to Asha and the couple has two children – Yashas and Harshitha.

Career

Satish Raj began his journalism career as a reporter for a local newspaper. Motivated by the desire for editorial independence and journalistic freedom, he founded Kannada News Today in March 2019. What started as a regional initiative quickly grew into one of Karnataka’s leading digital news platforms, known for its timely coverage and focus on local issues.

In 2025, he launched Timesnib, an English-language platform aimed at reaching a broader national and global audience, while continuing his commitment to factual and accessible reporting.

Journalism education and community initiatives
